It seems like everyone likes lists, regardless the subject matter, and we are no exception. Here is an interesting one that has recently come out from one of the most reputable technology magazines. PC Magazine, continuing with the theme of value for your dollar, has put out a list of the top 30 technology products under $100. All the products are rated 3 stars or higher by their internal analyst ratings, and the list includes a everything from USB drivers to GPS devices.
Two digital picture frames, made the list, including the Pandigital 8-inch PanTouch Digital Photo Frame and the Smartparts SP8PRT Digital Picture Frame and Printer.
We aren't experts in the Pandigital product line, but for a $100 frame, it seems to have all the standard features of similar models. PC Mag analysis seem to like the color quality of the image, and the Pandigital also has some wireless features, though the wireless technology doesn't exactly seem leading edge.
The Smartparts SP8PRT is one of the few digital frames on the market with a built in printer. At DSF.com, we've not been able to fully test the digital frame enough to properly rate it, recommend it, or sell it on our site. But in general, while we love Smartparts digital photo frames, the combination of a digital frame with printer hasn't been done right by any manufacturer yet as far as we know. Also interesting is that the SP8PRT was a $300 frame, so to see it now listed on a "less than $100" list does get your attention.
Regardless, its clear that digital photo frames continue to make their mark in the gadget world!
