Or is the process of setting image resolution, format, and size a tedious one for those pictures you want to transfer to your digital frame? Well new picture editing software from ACD Systems has recently been release that is designed specifically to deal with these issues.

Most of our customers using our Smartparts, Portable USA, or Kodak digital picture frames have not reported any issues with the way their digital pictures display on their frames. But we've heard that as the number of digital photo frame manufacturers increases, and along with it the various resolutions, sizes, and supported formats, its not guaranteed that simply transferring photos from camera to computer to digital frame will mean it displays properly.

If you use photo editing or picture management software you likely have the tools to tweak your pictures to get them correct for whatever frame you plan to use, but this may be tedious. However the recently released ACDSee Picture Frame Manager software is designed specifically for with digital picture frames in mind. This is the first we've heard of picture management software integrating specific digital frame features.

The ACDSee product works by allowing you to define each digital frame as a profile with resolution and image settings required to properly display pictures on that frame. Once these are set, you can simply drag and drop photo thumbnails to the appropriate frame to automate the optimization process. This all happens on your PC and can be done as part of your transfer process from camera to frame, using standard transfer methods such as USB connection or directly from SD memory card.

Consumer Reports has given the software a pretty good review on their blog, and you can decide for yourself if this feature is worth the $39.99 price point. If this is causing you a big hassle, it may be worth it.

Note that the ACDSee Picture Frame Manager can also be used for preparing pictures for other display devices such as HDTVs.
